For the past 4 months or so, we’ve been really looking forward to attending the Achievement Awards organised by our partner charity Against Breast Cancer. Five of our members plus one guest each joined us and spent a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of some truly inspiring people.
The evening started with some champagne and some tentative mingling with the rest of the crowd. Most of our members knew each other by their usernames as they enjoy chatting to each other when playing in our Royal Room. It was lovely to witness their joy when meeting each other in person; putting a face to the username.
After our introduction and journey stories (some came from as far as Glasgow and Newcastle), we were seated. Our table was right at the front with a perfect view to the stage.
While enjoying a glass or two, we listened to the many inspirational life stories of people who are making a difference to their local community or fighting challenging situations with dignity and an enormous amount of strength.
By far, the highlight of the evening was listening to the speech of Danielle Callaghan who has become quite well know being the face of the ‘Most Precious Stone’ campaign. Pink Ribbon Bingo and our sister sites supported her fundraising efforts with our own Diamond Necklace Fundraiser session which raised a total of £173.30.

After all of the awards were handed out, we looked forward to the raffle. There were some really good prizes and some of us would have loved a trip to Blenheim Palace or the X Factor final. As the main sponsor, we were chosen to pick the lucky winners. And we must have done something right, as our table won two prizes in total. One member won tickets to Blenheim Palace and another one received two beautiful vases from Next. As they were quite big and not too handy for a train journey back to Glasgow, our member to decided to share them with another player of ours. In the end, 3 out of 10 took something home that night!
The evening ended with a bit of dancing and more chatting.
It’s been a real privilege to have been the main sponsor of the Achievement Awards. More importantly though, we really enjoyed sharing this event with some of our members and their friends.
